Midtune Scribe is a native transcription and media editing app for macOS 26. It uses on-device Apple Speech or a local Whisper model to transcribe recordings, then lets you correct text, label speakers, make nondestructive cuts, and export audio, video, and captions.

What Scribe does not do
- Apple Speech language availability depends on your Mac. Whisper requires a separately installed executable and model.
- Speaker labels are manual. Automatic speaker identification, voice cloning, and cloud collaboration are not included.
- Text corrections change captions, not the spoken voice. Cut controls remove timed media segments.
- Apple Speech processes long recordings in 45-second chunks; review words around chunk boundaries.

Does Scribe upload my recordings?
No. Transcription uses Apple Speech on-device or the local Whisper executable you choose. Summaries use the on-device Apple Intelligence model.
Is Whisper bundled?
No. Apple Speech is the built-in option. For Whisper, choose your whisper.cpp executable and a downloaded ggml model in Settings.
Can I edit video by its transcript?
Yes. Cut timed transcript segments and export the remaining video as MOV or audio as M4A. Your original recording is preserved.
What happens when my trial ends?
New recording, transcription, and AI summaries require a plan. Saved projects, transcript edits, and exports remain available.
