What Mix does not do
- Protected audio may not be available to macOS audio capture APIs.
- Mix controls an app’s combined audio, not individual browser tabs or tracks inside it.
- Outputs must be mono or stereo; multichannel interfaces are not supported yet.
- Shared browser audio helpers may appear separately from their parent app.
- Disconnecting a selected output restores the app’s normal playback route, which may be speakers.
- No spatial audio processing or third-party Audio Unit plug-in hosting.
- Mix must be running to apply adjustments. Stopping it restores ordinary app playback.

How is Mix different from Route?
Mix adjusts what you hear: each app’s volume, tone, and playback device. Route creates virtual devices and channel connections for recording, calls, or streaming. Both are included in Complete and Business.
Does Mix install an audio driver?
No. It uses macOS Core Audio process taps. Grant system audio recording permission so it can adjust app audio.
What happens when I quit or the trial ends?
Mix releases its audio taps and normal app playback resumes. Your saved settings remain available. An active plan or eligible fallback license is needed to resume adjustments.
Can I buy Mix on its own?
Yes: $3 a month billed annually ($29 a year), or $9 month to month, with a 14-day free trial and up to 3 signed-in Macs. Mix is also included in Midtune Complete and every Business seat.
