How to record system audio on macOS 26
On macOS 26 you can record system audio with Midtune Record in three steps: create a System capture session, grant Screen & System Audio Recording once, and press ⌘R. No driver, no admin password.
| Permission needed | Screen & System Audio Recording (once) |
|---|---|
| Driver | None |
| Formats | CAF, WAV 24-bit, AAC |
| Own audio excluded | Yes, always |
Which permission does macOS ask for?
The first System or Application capture asks for Screen & System Audio Recording. Record never handles screen frames; the permission name is Apple's. Grant it once in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
How do I record one app instead of everything?
Choose the Application source, pick the running app, and start. The capture follows that app only; if it quits, Record reports an error instead of silently widening the capture.
Which format should I choose?
CAF for anything long (no 4 GB limit, crash tolerant), WAV 24-bit when another tool expects it, AAC at 256 kb/s for small files that still sound fine.
Why is a video silent in the recording?
Protected content is delivered to the display, not to capture APIs. That is a platform rule, not a setting.

Can I record my microphone at the same time?
Yes. Run a second session for the microphone, or route both into one Route device and record it as separate tracks.
